Description
We leave Cusco for the highlands of Maras and Moray, enjoying a picturesque drive through the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Moray, a set of circular agricultural terraces that the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory.
Itinerary
Here, our guide will explain to us how these terraces allowed for the creation of microclimates to experiment with different crops. The view from the top of the terraces is breathtaking and allows us to appreciate the ingenious Inca engineering.
We then continue to the Salineras de Maras, a complex of over 3,000 salt pools that have been exploited since pre-Inca times. We will have the opportunity to walk among the pools and learn about the traditional salt extraction process. The landscape here is unique and offers excellent photo opportunities. After this fascinating visit, we return to Cusco, enjoying panoramic views of the Andean landscapes along the way.
