Itinerary

Our Cusco city tour begins in the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city, where we will be able to appreciate the unique blend of Inca and colonial architecture. We visit the majestic Cusco Cathedral, famous for its baroque altarpieces and valuable works of art including the outstanding “Last Supper” with an Andean representation. Then, we head to the Temple of the Sun or Qorikancha, considered one of the most important enclosures dedicated to the Sun God in Inca times, on which the Convent of Santo Domingo was built. Here, we will be able to observe the impressive Inca engineering that stands the test of time.

After exploring the historic center, we will take a short bus ride to the outskirts of the city to visit nearby archaeological sites. We start at SacsayhuamĂ¡n, an imposing Inca fortress built with huge stones that fit together perfectly without the need for mortar. We continue to Qenqo, a labyrinth of tunnels and underground galleries used for religious ceremonies. We continue to Puka Pukara, an ancient military fortress that offered protection to the city, and finally, we visit Tambomachay, known as the Inca Bath, a sacred place dedicated to the cult of water. We return to Cusco after a morning full of history and culture.
